If you’re lucky, your lazy afternoon will turn into a Chelsea morning, where a night of ecstasy transforms your very perception of the world. Traffic noises become music. Light is butterscotch. And all you want is for the person beside you to stay.

A note about the arrangement:

The opening of this song is meant to suggest the experience of slowly awakening. Sounds of the outside world — bird calls, traffic noise — enter your ears and, at first, you aren’t able to put a name to them.

We recorded a percussion track with Brian Rice and then asked flute player Barbara Speed to improvise to it, first imitating the bird calls then gradually spinning out a melody line that is repeated by the piano (Ross Gualco).
